About the Role

Our client, a leading international technology firm, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Remote Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations for their South African workforce. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from home anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, managing payroll compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of South African payroll regulations, including UIF, SDL, and PAYE. This role is vital for maintaining employee satisfaction and ensuring regulatory adherence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and efficiently for all employees.
• Manage all payroll-related data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African payroll laws and regulations (e.g., BCEA, UIF, SDL, PAYE).
• Prepare and submit statutory payroll reports to SARS and other relevant authorities.
• Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes.
• Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and identify potential issues.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of payroll systems.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Payroll Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct payroll processing experience in South Africa.
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation, tax laws (PAYE), and statutory deductions (UIF, SDL).
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., VIP Payroll, Sage Payroll) and HRIS systems.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to handle employee queries effectively.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace for remote work.
