Placements24 is seeking an Operations Manager to lead remote e-commerce logistics across South Africa. You will oversee inventory, order fulfillment, and last-mile delivery, while driving efficiency and customer satisfaction in a fully remote environment.

You will manage cross-functional collaboration with procurement, marketing, and customer service, optimize SOPs, and lead a distributed team to scale operations and improve KPIs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Supply Chain/Operations Management or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in e-commerce logistics and operations management.
• Demonstrated success in managing remote teams and operations.
• Familiarity with Western Cape, especially George, logistics challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement logistics strategies to support rapid e-commerce growth, focusing on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage daily remote warehouse operations including inventory control, order picking, packing, and dispatch for George and distribution network.
• Create and refine SOPs to ensure accuracy, speed, and quality in fulfillment activities.
• Select, onboard, and manage relationships with 3PLs and shipping carriers to meet delivery targets.
• Leverage data analytics to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and drive improvements.
• Oversee warehouse technology and systems integration for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with procurement, marketing, and customer service to align logistics with demand.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Lead and mentor a remote team of logistics specialists, promoting high performance.
• Develop and manage the logistics operating budget, pursuing cost savings without compromising service.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in e-commerce logistics and operations management.
• Demonstrated success in managing remote teams and operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in warehouse management systems (WMS), order management systems (OMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to use data to drive decision-making.
• Excellent understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in contract negotiation with logistics service providers.
• Familiarity with the unique logistical challenges within the Western Cape region, particularly around George .
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote setting, requiring strong self-motivation and organizational skills.
