Placements24 partners with a rapidly growing South African e-commerce enterprise to appoint a Warehouse Operations Manager who can lead fulfilment across distributed centers remotely. You will drive efficiency, accuracy, and throughput while managing a remote team and interfacing with 3PLs.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in SCM or related field, 8+ years in warehousing and ecommerce, strong WMS skills, and a data-driven mindset.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing e-commerce enterprise, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Warehouse Operations Manager to lead their fulfillment operations. This is a pivotal, fully remote role, allowing you to manage and optimize warehouse processes from anywhere within South Africa . Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, inventory management, order picking, packing, and shipping. Develop and implement efficient warehouse layouts and workflows to maximize productivity and minimize handling time. Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, manage orders, and optimize operational performance. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for warehouse operations, such as order accuracy, on-time shipping rates, and cost per unit. Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and security procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and the integrity of inventory. Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met. Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction and process improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and meet business objectives related to the Vereeniging distribution hub. Drive initiatives for automation and technology adoption within the warehouse to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in warehouse and operations management, with a significant focus on e-commerce fulfillment. Demonstrated success in managing remote teams and operations effectively. Expert proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant logistics software. Strong understanding of inventory control, order fulfillment processes, and last-mile logistics. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to analyze complex operational data and implement data-driven solutions. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment. Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
