Job summary

Altron Document Solutions is seeking an on-site printing support technician at the XGS Site - WITS Johannesburg. The role involves loading paper, performing maintenance on printing devices, and providing first-level support to customers on site.

The successful candidate will have Matric and at least 6 months experience with basic hardware knowledge of printers, plus good communication and troubleshooting skills. This is a fixed-term contract with hands-on responsibilities at the customer site.

Qualifications

• Must have Matric.
• At least 6 months of experience with basic hardware knowledge of printing devices.
• Basic PC literacy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of technical support and end users.

Responsibilities

• Deliver prompt customer service as part of an on-site technical support team.
• Perform daily checks and first-level maintenance on all printing devices (cleaning, rollers, glass plates, replacing consumables and paper).
• Investigate and resolve device faults within your capability; escalate where needed.
• Monitor toner and consumable levels, replacing toners promptly.
• Place timely orders for consumables and paper when minimum stock levels are hit.
• Report trends to the Site Manager: device availability and utilisation, consumable usage, and evolving user needs.
• Provide basic training and guidance to customers within your remit.
