Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Field Electrical Engineer to be based on-site in Upington. You will oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems on diverse industrial and commercial projects, serving as the on-site technical lead to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The role rewards hands-on problem solving, collaboration with site managers and contractors, and travel to different project sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in field engineering, site supervision, or commissioning roles.
Proven experience with industrial electrical systems, control panels, power distribution, and low voltage systems.
Strong understanding of electrical testing procedures and safety regulations (e.g., working at height, live working protocols).
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

Supervise and direct the installation of electrical equipment and systems on project sites.
Conduct pre-commissioning checks, testing, and commissioning of electrical installations.
Ensure all electrical work complies with design specifications, project plans, and safety standards.
Identify and resolve on-site technical issues and deviations from the design.
Collaborate with site managers, contractors, and clients to ensure project milestones are met.
Prepare detailed site reports, progress updates, and commissioning documentation.
