Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in IT/comms.
• 5+ years in network operations.
• 2+ years in supervision of a NOC.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewall knowledge.
• Certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, is seeking an experienced and proactive Network Operations Center (NOC) Supervisor to oversee their operations in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is essential for ensuring the continuous availability and optimal performance of our client's extensive network infrastructure. You will lead a team of skilled NOC technicians, manage incident response, monitor network performance, and implement strategies to prevent service disruptions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a deep understanding of network monitoring tools and processes, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. You will work a hybrid schedule, combining on-site responsibilities with remote flexibility, contributing to the reliable delivery of telecommunications services across the region. This is a key position for individuals passionate about network stability and team leadership in the technologically vibrant environment of Stellenbosch .

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a team of NOC technicians, ensuring high performance and service quality.
• Oversee real-time network monitoring and management activities.
• Lead incident detection, response, and resolution efforts, minimizing downtime.
• Develop and refine NOC procedures and best practices for efficient operations.
• Manage escalations and coordinate with other teams and vendors during critical incidents.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of network events and resolutions.
• Monitor network health, performance trends, and capacity utilization.
• Implement and utilize network monitoring tools and dashboards effectively.
• Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
• Identify areas for improvement in NOC processes and tools.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide escalation support.
• Train new NOC team members and provide ongoing coaching.
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network operations or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role within a NOC environment.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls).
• Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Experience with incident management and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Experience working in a hybrid work environment is essential.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of ITIL framework is a plus.
