Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Operations Superintendent to lead day-to-day mining activities at a site near Randburg. You will drive production, planning, and resource management with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental stewardship.

This senior role requires a track record of managing large-scale mining operations safely and efficiently, and hands-on leadership to develop diverse teams across planning, geology and engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required.
• 10+ years in mining operations with 5+ years in supervision/management.
• Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all mining operations to meet production, quality and cost targets.
• Implement and enforce health, safety and environmental policies across operations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Mine Operations Superintendent to lead and manage day-to-day mining activities at their site near Randburg. This senior role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all mining operations, including production, planning, and resource management. You will lead a diverse team of professionals, drive operational excellence, and uphold the company's commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of mining operations, ensuring targets for production, quality, and cost are met.
• Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across all operational areas.
• Manage and develop operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety consciousness.
• Collaborate with planning, geology, and engineering departments to optimize mining methods and schedules.
• Monitor operational performance, analyze key metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale mining operations safely and efficiently.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment, and production processes.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or equivalent qualification is highly preferred.
