The role requires a Bachelor's in Mining or related field, 10+ years in mining with 5+ in leadership, and strong knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and SA regulations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Mining Operations Manager to oversee operations at their key mine site near Cape Town . This pivotal role involves leading all aspects of the mining process, from extraction to processing, ensuring the highest standards of safety, productivity, and environmental compliance. You will be responsible for managing a large workforce, optimizing operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a challenging and rewarding environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the company's operational success and sustainability in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all day-to-day mining operations, including drilling , blasting , hauling , and processing.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize ore extraction and minimize costs while maintaining safety standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage operational budgets, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of mining professionals and operational staff.
• Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of mining equipment and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a management capacity.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale mining operations and diverse teams.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements in South Africa .
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with production planning and optimization software.
