About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Mining Operations Manager to oversee significant mining activities based in Sandton , overseeing operations in the surrounding regions. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safety, and achieving production targets across multiple mine sites. You will manage a diverse team of professionals, including mine managers, engineers, and geologists, fostering a culture of high performance, safety consciousness, and continuous improvement. This executive position requires strong leadership, exceptional decision-making abilities, and a deep understanding of all facets of mining operations, from exploration to processing, within the dynamic Gauteng province industrial landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and management for all aspects of mining operations, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Develop and implement operational plans and budgets to meet production and financial targets.
• Oversee the efficient utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor mine site management teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with executive management and other departments to align operational strategies with company objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
• An MBA or equivalent is advantageous.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in mining operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale mining operations (open-pit or underground).
• In-depth knowledge of mining methods, mine planning, processing, and financial management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
