Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance and repair of mobile fleet at operations near Paarl. You will lead a team of mechanics, manage maintenance schedules, ensure equipment readiness and reliability of excavators, haul trucks and loaders.

This hands-on role requires a trade qualification or diploma, at least 5 years in heavy mobile equipment maintenance in mining, and strong leadership, hydraulics, diesel and electrical system knowledge, plus CMMS familiarity.

Qualifications

• Trade Qualification (e.g., Diesel Mechanic) or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, preferably in mining.
• Proven supervisory experience leading a maintenance team.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems of heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the mobile fleet maintenance team.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all mobile equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues on heavy machinery.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training to maintenance personnel.
