Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of mining equipment and plant infrastructure at operations near Upington, Northern Cape. This hybrid role combines site leadership with remote coordination, ensuring reliability and safety to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, manage maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role within heavy industrial or mining maintenance.
• Proven experience maintaining diverse mining equipment (haul trucks, excavators, crushers).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CMMS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily maintenance team activities (mechanics, electricians, technicians).
• Develop and manage preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for mining equipment and plant.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement timely repairs.
• Manage spare parts and consumables inventory; maintain stock levels.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of all mining equipment and plant infrastructure at their operations near Upington . This leadership role is critical for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the fleet and facilities, minimizing downtime and optimizing operational performance. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, manage maintenance schedules, and ensure adherence to safety protocols. This hybrid position offers a balance between operational oversight and administrative responsibilities, allowing for effective management from both site and a remote office, contributing to operational continuity in the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians.
• Develop and manage preventative and corrective maintenance schedules for all mining equipment, vehicles, and plant machinery.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement timely and effective repair solutions.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure operational integrity.

Requirements

• Trade Qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Auto Electrician) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within heavy industrial or mining maintenance .
• Proven experience in maintaining a diverse fleet of mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators, crushers).
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
