Placements24 is seeking a Mine Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance operations at a major mining facility near Cape Town. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of progressive mine maintenance management experience.
• Experience leading large maintenance teams and managing budgets.
• Knowledge of heavy mining equipment and CMMS; familiarity with safety regulations in Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies and schedules for all mining equipment, including heavy machinery, processing plants, and electrical systems.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and artisans to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
• Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective management of resources, spare parts inventory, and external service providers.
• Implement and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment failures and operational disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mine maintenance operations.
• Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability and operational uptime in Cape Town .

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly competent and results-oriented Mine Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance operations at their significant mining facility near Cape Town . This leadership role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and longevity of all mining equipment and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within a mining context, coupled with exceptional leadership and strategic planning abilities. You will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and fostering a culture of preventative maintenance and continuous improvement within the maintenance department, contributing to the overall success of this major South African operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a mine maintenance management role, preferably within surface or underground mining operations.
• Proven experience in managing large maintenance teams and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment, mobile fleet, and fixed plant maintenance.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and relevant safety regulations in Western Cape .
