About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized freight forwarding and logistics company, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join their dynamic team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This role is crucial for managing the smooth execution of international shipments, both import and export. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods. This position requires a strong understanding of international trade documentation, customs procedures, and various modes of transport. The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a demanding environment. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the end-to-end process of international freight shipments, including air, sea, and road transport.
• Prepare and manage all necessary shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
• Liaise with shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, and customs brokers to secure bookings and ensure compliance.
• Track shipments in real-time and provide timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the shipping process, such as delays or damages.
• Ensure all shipments comply with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of all shipments and associated costs.
• Process invoices and manage payments to service providers.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in logistics coordination, freight forwarding, or a similar role within the shipping industry.
• Solid understanding of international shipping procedures, incoterms, and customs regulations.
• Proficiency in using freight management software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and communicate clearly with diverse parties.
• Experience with both import and export processes is a significant advantage.
• Adaptability to work in a hybrid model, balancing in-office collaboration with remote tasks.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape area.
