Placements24 in Benoni seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design efforts on building projects across Gauteng. You will drive structural analysis, design elements, and documentation from concept through to construction drawings.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and clients, and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with SA codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• 7+ years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering design for buildings.
• Experience leading structural design teams and projects.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, Prokon) and CAD (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Thorough knowledge of South African structural design codes and practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for building projects from schematic design to construction detailing.
• Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using advanced software.
• Design structural elements (beams, columns, slabs, foundations) with steel, concrete, and masonry.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and building regulations.
• Review and approve shop drawings and respond to contractor queries during construction.
• Conduct site inspections to verify construction quality and adherence to design specs.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with architects, clients, and other consultants to achieve project goals.
• Develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions.
• Contribute to proposals and business development activities.
