Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a thriving enterprise based in George, Western Cape , is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead HR Generalist to oversee and manage all aspects of the human resources function. This leadership role is critical to supporting the company's growth and ensuring a positive employee experience across its operations in the Western Cape . The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, driving talent acquisition and retention strategies, and ensuring compliance with all applicable labour laws. You will work closely with departmental managers to provide strategic HR guidance and operational support, fostering a productive and engaged workforce. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR department, providing guidance and mentorship to HR staff.
• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that align with company objectives and legal requirements.
• Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to offer negotiation and onboarding.
• Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and equity.
• Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
• Develop and execute training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
• Ensure compliance with all national and provincial labour laws and regulations.
• Manage HR documentation and maintain accurate employee records.
• Foster a positive organizational culture and promote employee engagement initiatives.
• Conduct regular HR audits and recommend improvements.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of comprehensive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead generalist capacity.
• Solid understanding of HR functions, including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and compliance, particularly within the South African context.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in HR management software and MS Office.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
• Strong leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and develop a team.
• Resilience and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment in George.
• Experience in the manufacturing or service industry is a plus.
