Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer to lead manufacturing process development and continuous improvement at the Pietermaritzburg plant. The role focuses on boosting quality, efficiency, and cost reduction through Lean and Six Sigma practices.

You will design, implement, and optimize processes from concept to production, collaborating with R&D, production, and QA teams to meet performance and regulatory requirements in an on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years in industrial engineering focusing on manufacturing process development and improvement.
• Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in process mapping, simulation software, and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine manufacturing processes for new and existing products within the Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA facility.
• Design and implement efficient production line layouts, workflows, and workstations.
• Conduct time studies, motion analyses, and line balancing to optimize production rates and minimize cycle times.
• Identify and resolve production issues, including quality defects, equipment downtime, and efficiency bottlenecks.
• Develop and implement strategies for waste reduction and cost savings using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure processes meet all quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technologies and equipment to improve performance.
• Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
• Participate in product development teams to provide manufacturing feasibility input.
