Placements24 partners with a manufacturing client in Soweto, Gauteng, seeking an Industrial Engineer to design and implement innovative manufacturing processes. You will optimize existing workflows, apply lean principles, and collaborate with R&D and production teams to ensure cost-effective, quality-focused operations.

The role emphasizes process development, documentation (P&IDs, SOPs), and hands-on pilot runs to validate new designs within the Soweto operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–6 years of experience in industrial engineering focusing on manufacturing process design.
• Strong knowledge of lean, value stream mapping, and 5S.
• Experience with CAD and process simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new manufacturing processes and workflows from concept to implementation.
• Analyze existing processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for redesign.
• Use process simulation and modeling tools to evaluate potential designs.
• Develop detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with R&D and product design teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Specify requirements for new equipment and oversee installation and commissioning.
• Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to optimize flow, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Conduct pilot runs and validation studies for new or modified processes.
• Train production personnel on new processes and handover.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing floor in Soweto.
