Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering; a Master's is advantageous.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, process improvement, or manufacturing operations.
• Lean manufacturing principles with Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred).
• Experience with process simulation software and CAD tools (Arena, FlexSim, CAD).
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation using Minitab or similar.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing production processes to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Develop and implement strategies for process optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
• Design and simulate new manufacturing processes and layouts to boost productivity and safety.
• Utilize statistical analysis to measure process performance and identify trends.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee the implementation of new equipment and technologies and ensure integration.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and training materials for processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed changes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and environmental policies in Pietermaritzburg.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to production staff.
