Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer focused on operations analysis in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role centers on evaluating current systems, identifying efficiency improvements, and implementing data-driven solutions in a hybrid work setting.

The successful candidate will conduct time and motion studies, develop SOPs, and collaborate with on-site teams to drive sustained performance gains in an industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in industrial engineering, focusing on operations analysis and process improvement.
• Experience with data analysis, SPC, and process mapping techniques.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work model.
• Experience in the agricultural or food processing industry is advantageous.
• Familiarity with project management principles.
• Willingness to travel between office and production floor as needed in Mossel Bay.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing production and operational workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for optimization.
• Conduct time and motion studies to establish performance benchmarks and improve workflow.
• Develop and implement process improvements using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends, root causes of problems, and opportunities for improvement.
• Design and recommend changes to plant layouts, equipment utilization, and material flow.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Collaborate with production supervisors and line operators to implement changes and ensure successful adoption.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommending solutions to management.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of new equipment or technologies.
• Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and ensure sustained performance improvements.
