Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer in Soweto, Gauteng, to lead process optimization and lean initiatives. The role combines strategic planning with on-site engagement in a hybrid setup, driving waste reduction, efficiency gains and quality improvements.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years in industrial engineering, strong analytical skills, and hands-on problem-solving using lean methods and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering with a strong focus on process optimization and lean manufacturing
• Proven experience applying lean manufacturing principles in a production environment
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration
• Ability to manage time effectively and work within a hybrid model
• Familiarity with CAD software is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas of waste.
• Develop and implement lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, VSM) to improve operational flow.
• Design and optimize plant layouts and material handling systems.
• Collect and analyze production data to monitor performance and identify trends.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for enhanced consistency.
• Work collaboratively with production teams to implement process improvements and provide training.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of implemented changes.
• Contribute to cost reduction and quality improvement efforts.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards
