Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an analytical Industrial Engineer to focus on operations optimization in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will analyze production and packaging processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement data‑driven improvements to raise throughput and cut costs.

The role requires collaborating with operations, quality and maintenance teams, conducting time and motion studies, developing SOPs, and supporting new equipment design and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on process optimization.
• Proficiency in Arena, FlexSim and CAD tools.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing and value stream mapping knowledge.
• Experience with data analysis, statistical methods and KPI tracking.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current production and packaging processes to identify inefficiencies.
• Develop and implement optimized workflows, layouts, and material handling systems.
• Utilize simulation and modeling tools to test and validate process changes.
• Measure and monitor KPIs related to productivity, cost, quality, and safety.
• Collaborate with operations, quality, and maintenance teams for improvements.
• Conduct time and motion studies to establish standard work times.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions.
• Support design and commissioning of new equipment and lines.
• Assist Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Prepare reports and present findings to management.
