Placements24 is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee operations HR in Pretoria, Gauteng. This hybrid role requires presence in the Pretoria office for key meetings and collaborative sessions.

The successful candidate will lead HR strategy, manage a team of HR professionals, and collaborate with operational leaders to address workforce challenges, enhance productivity, and ensure compliance with SA labour laws.

• Master's degree in HR, Industrial Relations or related field.
• 8+ years HR experience with at least 3 years in a management role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor law in operational contexts.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the logistics and supply chain industry, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee operations HR functions in Pretoria, Gauteng . This leadership role will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that support operational efficiency and employee productivity. You will manage a team of HR professionals and collaborate closely with operational leaders to address workforce challenges and opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of operational HR needs, and a proven ability to drive HR excellence in a complex environment. This hybrid role requires presence in the Pretoria office for key meetings and collaborative sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the HR department, ensuring effective delivery of HR services to operational teams.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures relevant to operational environments.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compensation for operational staff.
• Ensure compliance with all labor laws and industry-specific regulations.
• Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention, and productivity.
• Manage HR aspects of workforce planning, including staffing levels and skill development.
• Handle complex disciplinary actions and grievance procedures with fairness and efficiency.
• Provide strategic HR advice and support to senior operational management.
• Develop and monitor HR KPIs to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
• Foster a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement within operational areas.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a management capacity, preferably in an operations or industrial setting.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor law and its application in operational contexts.
• Demonstrated experience in managing employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in HRIS and relevant HR software.
• Experience working in a hybrid work model is essential.
• Ability to travel occasionally to different operational sites.
• A results-driven approach with a focus on business impact.
