Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for a Queenstown-based mining project. You will assess ground conditions, design ground support, and help manage geotechnical risks to ensure safe, productive operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Geotechnical/Mining/Civil Eng with a geotechnical focus and at least six years' mining experience; proficiency in Rocscience Suite and FLAC is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in the mining industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and analyze rock and soil mechanics data for mine design and stability assessment.
• Design and recommend appropriate ground support systems for underground excavations and open-pit slopes.
• Monitor slope stability and underground conditions, implementing corrective measures as needed.
• Perform seismic hazard assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Prepare technical reports, provide engineering recommendations, and collaborate with mine planning and operations teams.
