Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join mining operations near Port Elizabeth. You will assess stability of excavations, slopes, and underground structures, conducting site investigations and stability analyses to guide safe, efficient mining practices.

The role requires a Master’s degree in geotechnical or civil engineering with at least 6 years in mining geotechnical work, plus proficiency in RocScience and FLAC software.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of mining geotechnical experience.
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations including site characterization and lab testing.
• Perform stability analyses for open-pit slopes, underground excavations, and tailings facilities.
• Develop design parameters and recommendations for mine structures.
• Monitor geotechnical conditions during mining operations and report risks.
• Provide guidance on ground support, dewatering, and related aspects.
• Collaborate with planners and operations to integrate geotechnical considerations into design.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
