Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Geotechnical Engineer to focus on site investigations and preliminary assessments for construction projects around Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will plan fieldwork, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports to guide safe and economical foundation designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
• 4+ years of experience in geotechnical site investigations.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and field testing methods.
• Proficiency in interpreting geological maps and borehole logs.
• Familiarity with South African geotechnical standards and guidelines.
• Excellent report writing and field documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise site investigations including drilling and in-situ testing.
• Collect and log soil and rock samples for laboratory testing.
• Interpret geotechnical data to assess ground conditions and bearing capacity.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports with recommendations for foundations and earthworks.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams on findings and implications.
• Ensure fieldwork is conducted safely following relevant standards.
