Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to major mining projects in Richards Bay. You will assess ground conditions, design stability solutions, and provide expert geotechnical advice to project teams in a hybrid work setup.

The role requires 5+ years in geotechnical mining applications, proficiency with SLOPE/W/SEEP/W/PLAXIS, and strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant geotechnical experience with mining focus.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for slope stability and seepage analyses (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, PLAXIS).
• Strong understanding of rock and soil mechanics.
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed site investigations and characterize ground conditions.
• Perform stability analyses for open pit slopes and underground excavations.
• Develop geotechnical designs and recommendations for support systems, foundations, and earth structures.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings for mining activities.
• Monitor ground conditions during construction and operation, advising on remediation measures.
• Collaborate with mining engineers, geologists, and construction teams to integrate geotechnical requirements into project planning.
