Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Field Telecom Technician to serve the Welkom region. You will install, maintain and repair telecommunications systems on-site at client locations, ensuring quality and performance.

The ideal candidate has practical problem-solving skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to travel between sites while delivering excellent customer service and clear technical guidance. Travel is a requirement, and you will be supported by a company vehicle and training

Qualifications

• Experience in hands-on telecom field service.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot telecom hardware.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is looking for a hands-on and resourceful Field Telecom Technician to serve the Welkom region. This position requires you to be on-site, working directly with clients and equipment to install, maintain, and repair telecommunications systems. You will be the face of our client's technical services in the field, ensuring that customer installations meet high standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with excellent practical skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage their time effectively while traveling between client locations. This role is crucial for maintaining client satisfaction and network integrity in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment at customer premises, including routers, switches, and CTI systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostic checks on existing network installations to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair network hardware and connectivity issues reported by clients.
• Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers regarding their telecom systems.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
• Manage service inventory and complete accurate service reports for each job.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a field service technician or in a similar hands-on telecom role.
• Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting various telecommunications hardware.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts and protocols.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Physical ability to lift equipment and work in various site conditions.
