Placements24 is seeking a skilled Field Telecoms Technician to join our operations team in Rustenburg. You will install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment at client sites and network facilities, traveling across the North West region as needed.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong diagnostics, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments. A clean driving record and relevant certificate are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• At least 3 years of field service telecoms experience.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and telecom test equipment.
• Strong knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and wireless tech.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to work at heights and in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecom equipment including routers and fiber systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults reported by customers or monitoring systems.
• Respond to service calls and site visits while following safety protocols.
• Document all installation and repair activities accurately and provide on-site support.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and reliable Field Telecoms Technician to join their operations team in Rustenburg . In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites and network facilities. You will be the face of our company to our clients, ensuring high standards of service and technical excellence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is comfortable working independently in various locations across the North West province and possesses strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and fiber optic systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on network infrastructure to prevent service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults reported by customers or monitoring systems promptly and efficiently.
• Respond to service calls and site visits as scheduled, adhering to safety protocols.
• Document all installation, maintenance, and repair activities accurately.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on site regarding their services.

Requirements

• Minimum of a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Telecoms Technician or in a similar field service role.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment relevant to telecommunications.
• Solid understanding of network cabling, fiber optics, and wireless technologies.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Strong physical ability to work in various environmental conditions and heights when necessary.
