Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician to join their team in Paarl. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing telecom equipment at customer sites and company facilities, with an emphasis on independent, safe field work.

The position requires 2+ years of telecom field experience, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with diagnostic tools and cabling (copper and fiber). Training and a company vehicle are provided to support service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronics or telecommunications is advantageous.
• 2+ years of experience as a Field Technician in the telecom industry.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Strong understanding of network cabling, copper, and fiber optic installations.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, modems, and customer premises equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair faults in communication systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests promptly.
• Document all service activities, including work performed and equipment status.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.
