Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an innovative Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape. This role focuses on developing and implementing advanced energy storage solutions, stabilizing the grid and integrating renewables within the energy sector.
You will design, simulate, and deploy BESS and other storage technologies in a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering and at least 6 years in power systems with energy
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in power systems engineering with energy storage specialization.
- Proficiency in BESS modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PSS/E).
- Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and engineer grid-scale and distributed energy storage systems.
- Model and simulate BESS performance and lifetime.
- Develop control strategies for optimal energy storage operation.
- Collaborate with vendors, project teams and grid operators.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot reliability and performance issues.
