You will manage a team of claims handlers, provide coaching, and implement strategies to reduce costs while maintaining high service levels for customers.

About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced and results-oriented Claims Manager to oversee their Motor Vehicle claims department in **Pretoria, Gauteng**. This leadership role is responsible for managing the efficient and effective processing of motor vehicle insurance claims, ensuring customer satisfaction, cost control, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. You will lead a team of claims handlers, provide training and support, and implement strategies to improve claims handling processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of motor vehicle insurance claims, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the motor vehicle claims handling team, setting performance standards and objectives.
• Oversee the entire claims process from FNOL (First Notification of Loss) to settlement, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and implement claims handling procedures and best practices to optimize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor claims performance metrics, identify trends, and implement strategies for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations, laws, and company policies.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as repairers, assessors, and legal service providers.
• Handle escalated claims and complex cases, providing guidance and resolution.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to claims handlers.
• Control claims costs through effective negotiation and management of repairer and assessor networks.
• Identify opportunities for fraud detection and prevention within the claims process.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in managing motor vehicle insurance claims.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of motor vehicle insurance principles, claims processes, and relevant legislation in South Africa.
• Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes, parts pricing, and accident reconstruction principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or professional designation in insurance or a related field is preferred.
