Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after school and day camp programs. You will create a safe, engaging environment, lead age-appropriate activities, and foster positive relationships with youth, families, and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising groups, modeling YMCA values, and ensuring compliance with safety policies. Part-time schedule with varied shifts and opportunities for growth within the organization.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth across before/after school and day camp programs.
• Lead activities with energy, creativity, and compassion.
• Monitor safety, supervise, and ensure headcounts according to YMCA policies.
• Model YMCA values (honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith).
• Maintain a clean, organized program space meeting standards.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, staff, and school partners.
