Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after-school and day camp programs. You’ll create a safe, engaging environment where youth feel valued, learn, and grow, while building strong relationships with families and school staff.

In this role you’ll supervise activities, model YMCA values, plan age-appropriate activities, and ensure program space meets safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of youth experience in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe and supervised at all times.
• Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning.
• Model YMCA values in all interactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Follow child-protection policies and sign-in/out procedures.
