Job summary

YMCA of Catawba Valley in Morganton, NC seeks a Group Leader to supervise a group of children in before/after school and summer programs. You will plan engaging activities, maintain a safe environment, and collaborate with staff and the program coordinator.

Responsibilities include supervising children, building positive relationships with families, keeping attendance records, and participating in monthly staff meetings and trainings to ensure high-quality program delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; EDU 119 preferred, BSAC.
• Prior experience working with children in a group setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of child development principles and safety practices.
• Ability to plan and implement engaging activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with basic computer tools (email, word processing).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement educational, recreational, and enrichment activities for children.
• Supervise children and ensure safety at all times.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
• Communicate with the program coordinator about participation and progress.
• Maintain attendance records and report concerns promptly.
• Assist in setup/cleanup of program materials and spaces.
• Participate in required training and staff meetings.
