Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Group Leader to supervise and support children in before/after school and summer programs in Morganton, NC. You will plan engaging activities, ensure a safe, inclusive environment, and work with staff to meet program goals.

You will build positive relationships with children and parents, maintain records, and collaborate with tutors and coordinators to deliver cohesive programming.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; EDU 119 preferred.
• Prior experience with children in a group setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and safety practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and activity planning skills.
• Basic computer skills (email, word processing).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute a variety of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities for children in the program.
• Adapt activities to accommodate different age groups and individual needs.
• Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and incidents; report concerns to supervisors.
• Assist in setup/cleanup of materials and spaces; support staff as needed.
