Job summary

YMCA of Catawba Valley in Morganton, NC is seeking a Group Leader to supervise children in before/after school and summer programs, ensuring a safe and engaging environment. You will plan activities, mentor staff, and collaborate with the program coordinator to meet program goals.

Strong communication with parents, a commitment to youth development, and the ability to manage a group while maintaining boundaries are essential. This role supports the daily operations of the program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; EDU 119 preferred, BSAC.
• Prior experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement diverse activities for children in before/after school and summer programs.
• Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe, positive environment.
• Collaborate with staff and the program coordinator to meet program goals.
• Engage with children and families, provide feedback, and report incidents promptly.
• Maintain attendance/records and assist in material setup and cleanup.
• Participate in trainings and support staff development.
