Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to support young people in a trauma-informed, harm-reduction focused environment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, inclusive space and document progress in multiple databases.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, youth development, and facilitating activities aligned with resiliency goals, with a scheduled 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM shift and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field.
• Preferred experience with young people ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness or human trafficking and/or lived experience.
• Knowledge of public benefits and community resources in NJ.
• Must be a self starter and team player with the ability to work well with others.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and ability to build positive rapport with young people.
• Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by concise, timely and professional correspondence, both written and verbal.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable record.

Responsibilities

• Provide unconditional positive regard to young people and support case management services.
• Engage in crisis de-escalation and intervention as needed.
• Document Intake, Orientation and Transitions into agency systems and case files.
• Document regular progress notes in youth records and logs.
• Support youth in achieving goals related to wellness, education, employment, and financial literacy.
• Cover front desk and assist with transportation as assigned.
• Participate in supervision and professional development activities.
