Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to support 18-24 year olds in housing and wellness goals through case management, education and community resources. The role emphasizes trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include engagement, assessments, planning, documentation, and facilitating activities that build resilience and independence, with an after-school style schedule aligned to program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field.
• Experience with youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness or trafficking preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management with the goal of developing positive relationships and planning.
• Engage youth in activities and supportive planning.
• Document intake, assessments, and progress in HMIS/ETO systems.
• Coordinate with community resources and make referrals as needed.
• Facilitate group activities aligned with resiliency goals: wellness, navigation, financial literacy, education and employment.
• Attend supervision and professional development as assigned.
