Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) per-diem member to provide trauma-informed, strength-based support to young people in a safe, inclusive environment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized success plans and support youth wellbeing.

The role emphasizes crisis de-escalation, documentation, and facilitation of activities to promote wellness, education, and employment goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field preferred.
• Experience with youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness or trafficking preferred.
• Must be a self-starter and team player with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Provide unconditional positive regard and support to youth in the program.
• Assist with case management processes to build positive relationships and support identified goals.
• Engage youth in daily activities, crisis intervention when needed, and documentation in HMIS/ETO systems.
• Facilitate youth group activities aligned to resiliency objectives: Wellness, Social Navigation, Financial Literacy, Education and Employment.
• Cover front desk and other building areas as assigned to ensure smooth program operation.
