Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) for the Newark area. The part-time role focuses on strength-based, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction approaches to support youth toward housing, health, education, and employment goals.

The YES will provide case management, crisis de-escalation, and group activities, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility for evening hours and community outreach is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field preferred.
• Experience with youth 18–24 experiencing homelessness or trafficking and/or lived experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NJ public benefits and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management to build positive relationships with youth using the agency case management system.
• Conduct assessments, document in HMIS/ETO and develop/update Success Plans.
• Engage youth in daily activities, educational and wellness goals, and community referrals.
