The Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) to support young people with strength-based, trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches. You will engage youth, conduct assessments, and develop service plans to progress toward housing, health, education and employment goals.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, documentation in HMIS/ET0, facilitating group activities, coordinating with community resources, and representing CHNJ in daily program operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field preferred.
• Experience with youth ages 18–24 experiencing homelessness or trafficking preferred.
• Knowledge of NJ public benefits; ability to build rapport with youth.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Valid NJ driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsabilités

• Provide unconditional positive regard to youth in the program.
• Conduct assessments and document in HMIS/ETO.
• Develop and monitor Success Plans with each youth.
• Coordinate schedule, appointments, and community resources.
• Facilitate youth group activities aligned with resiliency goals.
• Attend daily community meetings and supervision.
• Cover front desk and assist with agency communications.
