Job summary

The Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) to help young people through strength-based, trauma-informed guidance and harm reduction approaches. You will join a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe, inclusive environment and support youth with daily activities, referrals, and goal attainment.

You will document progress in HMIS/ETO, participate in crisis intervention, and help with intake, transitions, and house activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field preferred.
• Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work well with others.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and ability to build rapport with youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide unconditional positive regard to young people regardless of their behavior.
• Support youth engagement, case management processes and goal attainment.
• Document intake, orientations and transitions into HMIS and case files.
• Engage with youth in daily house activities and assist with transportation if needed.
• Provide crisis de-escalation and intervention as necessary.
