Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to energize our before/after-school and day camp programs. You’ll help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported, valued, and excited to learn.

You’ll lead engaging activities, model YMCA values, supervise staff and participants, and build strong relationships with families and school partners. This part‑time role emphasizes inclusion, safety, and hands‑on learning in a dynamic team setting.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of youth experience in a licensed setting.
• CPR/First Aid/AED and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and required immunizations per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and supervision; monitor activities and headcounts.
• Foster positive behavior with inclusive, supportive approaches.
• Lead engaging activities and hands-on learning aligned with YMCA curricu lum.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe program space.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Protect youth; follow sign-in/out procedures and policies.
