Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to contribute energy, creativity, and compassion to before/after-school and day camp programs. You will help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported and valued.

You’ll lead activities aligned with YMCA curriculum, supervise participants, and collaborate with families and school staff. The role emphasizes inclusivity, safety, and growth opportunities for youth.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required; evaluated by state licensing where applicable
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged and accounted for at all times using YMCA policies.
• Foster a welcoming environment with positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead fun, meaningful activities and adapt them to diverse needs and interests.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, safe program space meeting standards.
• Build strong relationships with children, families and staff.
• Follow all child-protection policies and supervision procedures.
