Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to guide before/after‑school and day camp programs with energy, creativity, and compassion. This role emphasizes safety, engagement, and building strong relationships with youth and families in a dynamic, licensed setting.

You'll lead activities, model YMCA values, and support daily operations while working part‑time with flexible hours aligned to ISD calendars and camp schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, enriching environment where youth feel supported and valued.
• Lead before/after school and day camp activities with energy and compassion.
• Monitor safety, supervise activities, and follow YMCA policies and training.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA teammates.
• Maintain a clean, organized program space meeting licensing standards.
• Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures and vigilant supervision of all areas.
