Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for before/after school and day camp programs. You will bring energy, creativity, and compassion to create a safe, engaging environment where youth feel valued and inspired.

The role emphasizes safety, positive behavior guidance, and leading meaningful activities, while modeling YMCA values and building strong relationships with families and staff.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of youth work experience in a licensed facility or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations per YMCA policies.
• Lead age-appropriate activities and adapt to diverse needs and interests.
• Model YMCA values and build positive relationships with children, families and staff.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized program space.
