Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after school and day camp programs in Katy. You will create a safe, engaging environment, lead activities, and build meaningful relationships with families and staff.

Role emphasizes safety, behavior guidance, and modeling YMCA values while delivering age-appropriate activities and fostering inclusive participation.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times. Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations using YMCA policies.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment with positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead games, projects, and hands-on learning to bring the YMCA curriculum to life.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, safe program space meeting standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and the YMCA team.
