Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after school and day camp programs in the Houston area. You’ll create a safe, fun, and educational atmosphere where children feel valued and excited to learn.

Responsibilities include leading activities, ensuring supervision, and building strong relationships with families and staff. A background in youth work, willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid, and flexibility with hours are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum six months of experience with youth in licensed facilities, schools, churches, or similar settings.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment during before/after school and day camp.
• Lead age-appropriate activities aligned with YMCA curriculums and schedules.
• Monitor safety, attendance, and conduct headcounts per program guidelines.
• Foster positive behavior and inclusive, respectful interactions.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized space.
• Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and teammates.
