Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support before/after-school and day camp programs. You’ll create a safe, engaging environment, lead age-appropriate activities, and build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.

The role requires 18+ years old, a HS diploma or GED, and relevant youth-work experience with CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain. The position offers a part-time schedule and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• As a Youth Development Leader, create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Help design and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations per YMCA policies.
• Foster inclusive, positive behavior management to support youth growth.
• Lead activities that bring the YMCA curriculum to life through games and projects.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Assist with daily operations and maintain safe, clean spaces.
