Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to run before/after-school and day camp programs for youth. You will create a safe, engaging environment, lead age-appropriate activities, and build strong relationships with families and school staff.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and positive behavior management, with opportunities for growth within a mission-driven community. You will work part-time and support a supportive team that values youth development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Able to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead before/after school and day camp activities to create a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
• Ensure safety, supervise youth, perform headcounts, and follow YMCA policies.
• Foster positive behavior and inclusive environments.
• Lead engaging activities and adapt to diverse needs and interests.
• Build strong relationships with youth, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized program space.
